God Bless Ye, Merry Filthy Animals

Hello, party people!

It’s that time of year where I try to write a Christmas-related tale and then pass it on to your eyes and brains.

Well, this year – though I have a story under way – and it’s a creepy one – it kinda grew in scope to the point where I’m not gonna make my Christmas deadline so I’ll just keep plugging away at it until this time next year rolls around and see how we look then.

So as not to leave you high and dry without a Christmasy thing thing, I’d thought I’d share another holiday-adjacent treat with you all that I’ve put together: a solo role-playing game called Chrome Alone!:

chromeAlone

In Chrome Alone, you role play as a K.E.V.-1n McAllister Series Core, an autonomous robot designed for domestic assistance, protection, and familial companionship. You also (kinda) move around a map and roll dice like in a a board game. It’s Christmas Day, 2090, and you wake in the attic bedroom of your family’s home to find your family missing. The house surveillance system sends an alert that it is malfunctioning. Programming dictates you must determine if the house is truly empty, protect the home from any threats, and keep the home’s major systems up and functional. As the day plays out, using narrative prompts, you might even discover where your family disappeared to. Complicating your efforts are The Glitchy Bandits, Har.1 and Mar V, two malfunctioning robots who’ve turned to petty crime and have your house on their radars.

It’s free to download! https://jdoublep.itch.io/chrome-alone

I hope it makes you giggle and I hope you have a holiday season full of undisappeared families, cooperative robots, and cookies. Lots of cookies.

From under the mistletoe,

Jason
