UNIQUE'S first book of verse: MONKEY IN THE GRASS
Unique is one of KC's most promising emerging poets, though in some ways it's unfair to label him as "youth" or "emerging." He has years of history dedicated to poetry activism in the city of his birth. He has represented KC nationally at Brave New Voices and in Louder Than A Bomb, he is a current youth mentor with KC POETREE and is signed on as a junior host at KC's long running poetry open mic, Beatnik Freaknik with Dr. Nightlife Jones.
His book is an insightful and emotionally jarring exposure of a boy's ascent to manhood in the midst of family disfuction and in the racially charged modern America.
