Serenading a Truth
All the sweet-lipped lovers
trying to serenade a truth,
forego the other truths
that once received their love and songs.
For this lust of a true thing,
they’ll miss a flower bloom.
For this glimpse of certainty,
they’ll whisper wandering words.
They’ll promise for a truth
they want to keep under dark cover.
They only want a truth
if it’s not already known.
They want a truth to keep close by them,
like a quiet revelation.
A truth easily enamored
of the air forced from their mouths.
