The Brightest Thing You’ll Ever See
The fires beckon unconditionally
while the butterflies scream with delight
The fires blacken universally
while the turtles load their pistols overnight
The fires blister unambiguously
while the squirrels hold short fuses to the light
The fires bluster uncontrollably
while the sea lions swing their scabbards left and right
The fires becalm unpredictably
while the dragonflies swarm to the fight
And the ashes smolder so regrettably
as our charred bones make a memorable blight
